I don’t know about you, but personally, I prefer to buy from or work with a business whose core values are in line with my own values.

Yet, not every business is transparent about the values that they follow. And then there are some who tout their core values and don’t act on them one bit.

To be honest, any business can write up some core values, file them away never to be looked at again, because ultimately, they’re only in it for the money.

And don’t get me wrong, we also really like the part where it makes money.

BUT I would be lying if I said we never look back at these core values to use them in decision making.

For those reasons, we want to share with you the core values on which WedTexts bases its business and what they mean to us.

Acceptance

This includes accepting people for who they are, within and outside of our business. It means accepting failures and learning from them and to accept changes as they come.

On a more professional level, this means putting the good of the company over your own ego.

So, just because I might like a pink button better, but you, our readers, respond better to a blue button, guess what? I better suck it up!

Honesty

I really shouldn’t even have to explain this core value. Basically, it means Do.Not.Lie. It’s stupid. It wastes everyone’s time and makes figuring out the truth that much harder.

On that note, we strive to always rely on facts first, opinions second.

Lastly, that also means owning up to your mistakes. No one is going to ostracize you.

Well.. maybe only a little 😉

Kaizen

No worries if you haven’t heard of this core value before. Kaizen is the philosophy of continuously “changing for better”.

We strive to optimize which includes:

  1. Eliminate waste
  2. Constant, consistent improvement
  3. “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler” – Albert Einstein
  4. Optimization only occurs after the build is complete
  5. Immediately identify and remove bottlenecks or roadblocks

That’s all fine and good but means very little without consistency.

We require ourselves to be reliably consistent and to become the go-to person for something.

“Find people that play at what you work at, so you can play at what you play at.”

Last but not least, we think predictability is GOOD. No surprises. None. Zip. Nada.

Integrity

Integrity is one of the core values that is most important to me, personally.

It’s doing what you say you’re going to do when you said you’re going to do it. Don’t make excuses, just find a way to get it done.

We realize that this means we hold ourselves to a higher code of personal ethics than your peers, including good business ethics.

Side note: Speaking of a higher code of ethics.. Check out how real WedTexts couple, Taylor and Eric, planned their perfectly eco-friendly wedding!

Quality

We want to produce high-quality work for our clients, which means we do inspired, collaborative work and produce quality work the first time.

Quality also means providing superior customer service and emphasizing how our products and services are delivered to our customers.

If we are not 100% certain about how something will turn out, we try it and learn from the experience.

Planning

“Plans are nothing, planning is everything” – Dwight D. Eisenhower

While we don’t always know the exact outcome of an action, we nevertheless plan the crap out of it.  To us, action without planning is a gamble and most mistakes can be avoided by planning first.

We also follow the Pareto principle, which states that 20% of actions produce 80% of results.

Remember when I said we regularly reference our core values when it comes to decision making?

Planning also includes, to us, making a decision and moving on. There comes a point in time when you just HAVE to make a choice and move on if you want to see any results at all.

With all that in mind, we remain goal-oriented and ask ourselves “What does finished look like?”

Our core values are more than a token slogan to us.

They are an integral part of our day-to-day business operations, we reference them frequently and base our decisions on them.

We may not be able to get to know each and every one of our WedTexts wedding couples in person, but I hope that learning more about the core values at WedTexts makes you feel like you know us a little better than before.
